We are always excited to welcome new faces to our community! Whether you’d like to be onstage or off, people of all ages and levels of experience are encouraged to join. The Lakewood Community Theatre strives to provide members of surrounding area a safe environment for personal and educational growth, as well as provide opportunities to unite the creative energies of the community. For those interested in acting in any of our upcoming shows, please read below for more information on our audition schedule and what to expect when auditioning. We also offer audition workshops so you can learn how to put your best foot forward (though they are not required)!
AUDITIONS
Most auditions are cold reads from the play that the director has selected ahead of time. It is always helpful for anyone who auditions for a show to know the history of the show or about it in some way. No prepared monologues are needed. Head shots are recommended but not necessary and any time conflicts should be known at the time of audition.

After a blizzard shuts down the roads on Christmas Eve, a motley crew of travelers find themselves stranded at the local community center. From the lovelorn drama teacher with a bus full of students, to the quarrelsome couple on the way to their wedding, to the overeager Sheriff ready for some real criminal action, everyone has their own troubles to untangle. But to have a happy holiday, they’re going to need a miracle-or seen, to be exact. A spirited and heartwarming comedy with a healthy dash of Christmas magic. Play run date December 6 – 22 2019. Adults and youth needed.
Adult Characters
Shelby-female (30-55) Your basic, amazing drama teacher. Overworked, talented, with a big heart and bigger patience.
Rifka-female (55-75) Shelby’s mom. She is the typical Jewish mom who doesn’t want her daughter to settle for anything less than a doctor or lawyer. She’s along to help chaperone the kids.
Suzy- female (20-30) Totally stressed about their destination wedding, which they can’t get to because the state has been closed.
Flo- female (30-65) The building custodian who is a nervous wreck.
Deputy Dot-female (20-60) The sheriff’s overeager assistant.
Colby-male (30-55) Bus driver. He likes Shelby; his daughter is Drew.
Nolan-male (20-30) Engaged to Suzy. A good guy in a bad situation.
Kieth-male (30-55) An old schoolmate of Shelby. Is your basic nightmare- rich, smart, and handsome. All the things you don’t want to run into when you’ve been driving a bus.
Sheriff Griffin-male (30-65) Takes his job very seriously. Loves the drama of it all.
Youth Characters
RJ-male (15-18) drama student. Believes in the Christmas Curse. Every bad thing that’s happened to him has been on Christmas Eve and he’s full expecting something else to go wrong.
Bjorn- male (14-18) A mysterious young man who is definitely a little odd.
Bean- male (15-18) drama student. Bailey’s loving brother.
Bailey- female (14-18) drama student. Idealistic, hopeful and has a fundamental need to believe in Santa.
Lily- female (14-18) drama student with a capital DRA and MA. She’s and “actress” and all that implies. Very “Method.” Eager to explore her craft.
Cassie- female (14-18) drama student. Really likes RJ but doesn’t get the whole curse thing.
Toby- female (14-18) drama student. She hasn’t done any of her Christmas shopping.
Nancy- female (14-18) drama student. She refuses to speak. She’s very mine-y.
Dana- female (14-18) She’s dressed as an elf but she’s is not an elf.
Pink- female (12-16) Dana’s younger sister. She’s also dressed as an elf.
Drew- female (12-18) Colby’s daughter, who worries about her father.
